Nataraj is the dancing form of the Lord Shiva. He dances the cosmic dance 'Anandatandava,' which means the Dance of Bliss. This symbolizes the cycle of creation and destruction together with the daily rhythms of birth and death.
The term 'Nataraj' means 'King of Dancers' and the image of Shiva Nataraj is an allegory of the five principle manifestations of eternal energy; these being creation, destruction, preservation, salvation and illusion
