On this hand-printed batik, Laxmi sits on a large lotus flower. Laxmi is the goddess of wealth. She bestows her blessings on those who have good intentions. Laxmi (sometimes spelt 'Lakshmi') helps us gain material fulfilment that can lead towards spiritual understanding.
The lotus flower in relation to Shri-Lakshmi refers to purity and spirituality that are unaffected by earthly goods and surroundings. Rooted in the mud but blossoming above the water, the lotus is completely uncontaminated by the mud. The association of Laxmi and the lotus flower can be interpreted as an indication that it is possible to have material belongings and still connect with God, as long as we are not ruled by desire for worldly possessions.
People with businesses or enterprising aspirations often worship Laxmi. She guides them and helps them to achieve what they need along their human paths to enlightenment.
Rainbow batiks are hand-printed and painted. Rainbow batiks are approximately 2.5 ft by 4 ft.
