Ganesh is the Remover of Obstacles. Ganesh should be placed opposite the door to ward off any forces that may hinder your goals.
Ganesh is shown here holding an axe, a sweet sesame ball (to show his love of sweetness and liberation), and a goad, with an OM symbol on one of his palms. A mouse is at His feet. The mouse is often depicted as serving Ganesh or acting as His transport. The mouse symbolises one who is trying to overcome his selfishness and desires, hence Ganesh as the Remover of Obstacles is the most appropriate deity to worship.
Ganesh is the son of Lord Shiva.
