Stark Chequered Combat Trousers are black-and-white cotton trousers with a properly loud chequered finish. They’re handmade in Nepal from 100% cotton, with a combat-style cut and a pocket on each leg for the small bits you don’t want rattling around in your hands.

They come in Large and Extra Large, both with an elasticated waist and drawstring belt, so there’s room to adjust the fit rather than relying on one fixed waist measurement. Large stretches from around 29 to 42 inches and has an approximately 76cm inseam. Extra Large stretches from around 32 to 46 inches, with an approximately 80cm inseam.

Good festival trousers, beach trousers, or just the pair you put on when plain black trousers feel a bit too sensible. Check the waist and inseam against something you already wear before ordering.

These are not trousers for disappearing into the background. The black-and-white chequered pattern does the talking, while the elasticated waist and drawstring give you a bit more leeway than rigid-waist combats. The leg pockets are useful too. Measure the inseam on a pair you already like before picking Large or Extra Large, especially if trouser length usually catches you out.
