Product Description

Lord Shiva is one of the Trinity, the two other being Lord Vishnu and Brahma. In Hinduism and Yoga he is worshipped through various mediums such as the Lingam, seen here behind Lord Shiva who sits in meditation. The Lingam is a symbol of fertility and is worshipped especially by women.

Shiva is the god of destruction, however his energies are not negative. They destroy our imperfections and allow us to pass on towards spiritual realisation.

The Lingam is the simplest and most ancient symbol of Shiva, a God beyond all forms and qualities. Lingas are usually made of stone but may also be of metal, precious gems, crystal, wood, earth or ice.

The ancient Rishis and the seers of India have prescribed Linga for being installed in the temples of Lord Shiva. There is a mysterious power in the Lingam, its shape induces deep concentration of the mind.

This hand-painted batik is approximately 2.5 ft by 4 ft.

Please note that as this is a hand finished product, colours may vary from those pictured

Due to the nature of the hand printing techniques used in India, there may be natural variations in design and some double printing may occur, however this does not detract from the beautiful finish of this batik.
